Meta has stopped broadcasting news in Canada
The Canadian government recently passed the 'Online News Act' to force Meta and Google to pay for publishing news content. Publishers will get paid if this law is enforced. However, Meta refused to pay this amount.
And that's why Meta has decided not to broadcast any kind of news content in the country. They have currently discontinued this service. CBC news.
In a statement, Facebook told users in Canada that it has permanently stopped serving news.
As a result, Canadian citizens will no longer see news national content in their news feed. It will take Meta a week to fully implement this process.
It is known that Meta is blocking not only the links of publishers' accounts, but also common users if they share any news links.
